Retail center planned on 45th Street will aim to draw new names
Called Prairie Stone Center, the 60,000-square-foot space on the corner of 45th Street Southwest and 17th Avenue South will be home to up to 20 high-end retail, service and restaurant tenants. No tenants have been announced.
Construction is expected to be complete in spring 2014, with the first stores and restaurants opening in the summer, said Jim Buus, vice president of Goldmark Schlossman Commercial Real Estate Services Inc.
Goldmark is handling leasing and marketing for the new shopping center, which Berg is developing independently in a partnership with Fargo developer Ace Brandt of Brandt Holdings.
Buus said Prairie Stone Center will focus on bringing new names – businesses that aren’t currently in the metro – to the Fargo-Moorhead area.
No businesses have signed leases yet, but Buus said Goldmark is negotiating with six possible tenants. He said the first announcements will likely come in a month or two.
Berg, who in November lost a close bid for the U.S. Senate to Heidi Heitkamp after serving one term in the House, alluded to getting involved in new real estate deals in an interview about his post-politics life with the Forum.
“I’m excited to be a part of a project that will generate jobs and expand our community’s tax base by bringing new retail businesses to a premier location,” Berg said in a news release.
