Forum editorial: Oak Grove giant passesWe note with sadness the death of Darwin Gorder, who was appropriately known as “Mr. Oak Grove.” The school’s central figure for many decades died last Wednesday at age 73. He will be missed by all those who have been associated with the private Lutheran school based in north Fargo.
Gorder’s work is legend. Whether in teaching, sports or cleanup after an ice cream social, Gorder was a force. He had high standards, and it was up to students, faculty and administrators to live up to them. In rough times and good, Gorder’s loyalty to the school as teacher, interim president, academic dean or principal was unquestioned.
Honor, commitment, faith and hard work distinguished his dedication to Oak Grove. We join family, friends and admirers in celebrating his life.
