West Fargo man arrested after early morning high-speed chaseWEST FARGO – An early morning high-speed chase here ended with the arrest of the 20-year-old driver today.
West Fargo Police said they became involved in the pursuit, which started on Interstate 29 at the Interstate 94 exit in Fargo, around 4:20 a.m. in the 2600 block of Veterans Boulevard.
When officers attempted to stop the driver, he turned west onto 32nd Avenue and then south onto Fourth Street East, driving at moderate speeds before going through the roundabout, turning east onto 36th Avenue and then reaching speeds of more than 70 mph.
The driver turned north onto Veterans Boulevard from the residential neighborhood and then turned west before he was brought to a stop in the 800 block of 32nd Avenue.
Police said Damon Simonson, of West Fargo, was arrested and charged with reckless driving, fleeing in a vehicle, driving under the influence and minor in consumption.
