Letter: Energy industry brings growthStepping into Watford City, N.D., you’ll see a city on the grow. We have new houses and apartments under construction, a brand-new community wellness center and a brand-new grocery store. And, set to open later this summer, a new Subway and a day care facility will continue to improve what our city offers to both new and old residents.
While normal expectations in a larger town, these things are an important addition to our community. A fast-food restaurant gives us the ability to get a quick lunch. A full-size supermarket expands our food choices.
The community center was built by the hard work of volunteers and leaders in town and provides a healthy addition to our community. The new day care led by a partnership of the city, developers and energy companies will give our children a safe place to be throughout the day and allow spouses to pursue their careers.
It will never be the quiet little town that it was before, but the growth of the energy industry brings people and resources to our town that will increase the quality of life in Watford City. The energy industry will continue to bring incredible growth for the town, and I’m excited to see what comes next.
