Blackduck man killed in accidentBLACKDUCK, Minn. – A Blackduck man was killed in a one-car accident Wednesday evening, the Minnesota State Patrol said Thursday.
According to the patrol, Theodore Balko, 88, was eastbound on Pass Road Northeast when he failed to stop at the intersection with U.S. Highway 71 at about 6:15 p.m. Wednesday.
Balko continued across the intersection and into the ditch, where his 1987 Dodge Caravan hit the embankment head-on and continued east, hitting several trees before coming to rest.
Balko was not wearing a seat belt and an airbag was not deployed in the vehicle, the patrol said.
