Longtime ND congressman Earl Pomeroy's mother dies at age 93VALLEY CITY, N.D. – The mother of longtime North Dakota U.S. House member Earl Pomeroy died here on Tuesday.
Myrtle Pomeroy, 93, died at the Sheyenne Care Center in Valley City.
An orphan from Billings, Mont., Myrtle Pomeroy grew up in Minnesota and attended Moorhead State in Moorhead where she met her husband, Earl “Ralph” Pomeroy.
The couple later moved to a farm near Valley City, where they raised their four children, Elaine, Linda, Earl and Glenn.
Lerud-Schuldt Funeral Home is assisting with the funeral arrangements. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Epworth Church in Valley City. Interment services will follow at Woodbine Cemetery.
Earl Pomeroy was elected to the North Dakota House in 1980, and became state Insurance Commissioner in 1985.
In 1992, he was elected as North Dakota’s at-large congressman, a post he held for 18 years.
