Letter: Radio talk show paints the victim as suspect

I was a bit perturbed by one of the local afternoon talk-show hosts who interviewed the victim of a recent robbery/carjacking on his show.

I do not think it is appropriate to ask over the airwaves questions concerning drug purchases or other incriminating questions and questions relating to the area of the assault being portrayed by the host as a drug area of the community. Also, questions relating as to why the victim was in that area have no relevance whatsoever. People in the city should be able to go anywhere at any time without the fear of being beat up, robbed or harassed.

What’s going to happen with these thugs and their behavior is that someone with a concealed carry permit is going to be the potential victim of this behavior, and then someone is going to be dead. The victim who was on the radio program was treated more as a suspect than a victim of a crime that could have had a more serious result.

And shame on Fargo police Lt. Joel Vettel, who in his interviews always minimizes what is really going on in this city concerning the increase in violence and crime.
