Letter: What’s with all the autopsies?

I would like to hear back from someone in the medical field. I just don’t understand why all of these autopsies are performed.

It just doesn’t make common sense.

Examples: You drown. You are killed in a car accident. You are shot to death. A big tree falls on your head.

Autopsies were done on all of the above, I’ve read in The Forum.

With the examples I’ve listed, why all the autopsies? Is there someone out there who can explain this to me?
