Trade Talk: Moorhead brewing company now on tap

A new brewery is up and running in the Fargo-Moorhead area.

Junkyard Brewing Co., a nano brewery located at 1320 1st Ave. N. in Moorhead, has started producing kegs of beer that are showing up at tap parties in local bars.

Aaron Juhnke is president of the company.

His brother, Daniel, is vice president.

Junkyard’s first tap party was held about two weeks ago at Moorhead’s JL Beers, and several more have been held since then at various locations, Aaron Juhnke said.

A tap party is planned for Thursdayat Rhombus Guys Pizza, Fargo.

Aaron Juhnke said at this point, Junkyard’s production is limited to kegs, but he said the company hopes to expand soon into selling growlers – 64-ounce jugs of beer – out of its brewery in Moorhead.

He said they also hope to open a tap room at the brewery.

“We brew one and a half barrels of beer at a time and a barrel is the equivalent of two 15½-gallon kegs,” Aaron Juhnke said.

Junkyard makes two kinds of beer; one is called Scrounger, the other, Hatchet Jack.

The brewery can be reached by calling (701) 261-8403.

Junkyard’s beers are distributed by River Cities Distributing, Fargo.

The brewery has a Facebook page and a website. The latter can be found at: www.junkyardbeer.com
