Weather Talk: F-M heat alerts likely draw laughs in other parts of USIn southern Florida, the National Weather Service issues wind chill advisories whenever the wind chill factor is expected to drop below 35 degrees. In Texas, they will put out a winter storm warning if a snowfall is expected to reach 1 inch. We Northerners laugh and laugh at such silliness.
But our warm weather this week has produced the same effect. People in Miami, Houston or Dallas must have laughed at the way we dealt with our temperatures in the 90s. Warnings were posted, events were canceled, workouts were postponed – all because of conditions that would be quite typical of any summer day in many parts of the country.
