Letter: Excellent medical care in FargoMost folks served by the health care providers at the Fargo Sanford Medical Center probably don’t realize how fortunate they are for the evident professionalism, expertise and loving care that seems routine. I, however, learned of these attributes beginning on July 21.
My wife, daughter and son-in-law were traveling in two vehicles headed for Lake of the Woods for some fishing. My wife was driving and noticed my distress and stopped near or at Baudette, Minn. My daughter performed CPR until the EMTs from Baudette arrived. They were able to shock my chest and restart the rhythm of my heart. I then got the helicopter ride I have wanted all my life to the trauma facility at Fargo Sanford. When I regained consciousness, I was advised that I was in Fargo. “Fargo,” I said, “You guys are crazy.” An unbelievable reaction to absolutely the luckiest day of my life.
Those folks in the ICU are special, caring professionals, not only to me but also to members of my family who had gathered together. As a matter of fact, every single person we met at the hospital was friendly, helpful and obviously competent. We all made some new friends.
Although I have lived in Wisconsin since 1968 and have been proud to have been born and raised in Minnesota, I have the utmost respect for those skilled Dakotans and Minnesotans. They have renewed the opportunity for me to see my grandchildren grow up. This means everything to me. Thank you very much.
