Twins' Mauer scratched from game due to dizzinessDETROIT — Minnesota Twins first baseman Joe Mauer has been scratched from the lineup against the Detroit Tigers.
Mauer experienced dizziness Tuesday night in batting practice.
Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said earlier in the day that Mauer was probably not going to catch during the three-game series in Detroit.
Justin Morneau, who was scheduled to be the team's designated hitter Tuesday, was shifted to first base to replace Mauer in the field. Outfielder Chris Hermann was moved up to hit second in Mauer's place in the lineup.
Mauer is hitting .324 with 11 homers and 47 RBIs for the Twins, who sit in fourth place in the AL Central.
