Identity of victim in crash near Tappen releasedTAPPEN, N.D. – The North Dakota Highway Patrol has released the identity of a California man who died early Sunday when the pickup he was riding in crashed near here.
According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol:
Matthew Cain, 23, of Napa, Calif., was a passenger in a pickup driven by Scott Lindegard, 24, of Hallock, Minn., that crashed about 1 a.m. Sunday.
The truck was traveling north on 39th Avenue S.E., about a half mile north of Tappen, when the driver lost control and the vehicle struck an approach and rolled.
Both Cain and Lindegard were thrown from the vehicle. Neither was wearing a seat belt.
Lindegard was taken to Sanford Health in Fargo for treatment. Cain was pronounced dead at the scene.
