Former Vikings WR Randy Moss won’t return to the field

NEW YORK – Randy Moss formally announced on Sunday that he will not be returning to the field of play and will be retiring from professional football after a 14-year career.

Moss, now employed as a football analyst for Fox Sports 1, made the announcement during the fourth quarter of the New York Giants-Indianapolis Colts preseason game.

Moss began his NFL career in 1998 with the Minnesota Vikings and later returned to the team in 2010. The six-time Pro Bowl wide receiver also played for the Oakland Raiders, New England Patriots, Tennessee Titans and San Francisco 49ers.

Moss ends his career with 15,292 receiving yards – third on the all-time list – and 156 receiving touchdowns, including a single-season record 23 TDs in 2007 with New England.
