Valley City collision involves 7 vehiclesVALLEY CITY, N.D. – Two women were taken to the hospital after a collision here about 5 p.m. Friday that involved seven vehicles and five drivers.
Sandra Burchill, 69, Valley City, was driving a Ford F-150 pickup truck westbound on Main Street in Valley City at a high rate of speed, according to a North Dakota Highway Patrol release. Burchill’s vehicle hit an eastbound car driven by Geraldine Knutson, 65, as it was turning onto Second Avenue.
The head-on collision propelled both vehicles into other moving and parked vehicles on Main Street before they came to a stop.
Both drivers were seriously injured in the crash, and initially were transported to Mercy Hospital in Valley City.
From there, they were taken by ground and air ambulance to Sanford Medical Center in Fargo. Burchill was released, but Knutson remains in serious condition. The other drivers involved in the collision may have suffered minor injuries.
Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash, which is still under investigation by the Highway Patrol.
