Trade Talk: Gluten-free bakery heading for Moorhead

MOORHEAD – Downtown Moorhead is getting a new bakery.

Just Grains is setting up shop in the area of 23 4th St. S. on a corner of Main Avenue and Fourth Street South, according to information provided by the city of Moorhead.

Attempts to reach representatives of the new business were unsuccessful as of the time this story was filed.

Signs outside the store and information provided by the city indicate the shop will offer gluten-free baked goods.

The city said the business is expected to open soon.

College expanding

The Master’s Baptist College, a ministry of Fargo Baptist Church, 3303 23rd Ave. S., Fargo, is continuing to grow.

Building permit information filed with the city shows a new building planned for the church campus will be valued at an

estimated $1.3 million.

The building will have classroom and dorm space, similar to a larger structure that was recently completed nearby on the church/college campus, said Lawrence Vandal, a spokesman for the church.

Vandal said participation in the college is growing, with about 80 dormitory students expected when classes resume in the fall.

He said when the new building is completed sometime late in 2014, the college will be able to accommodate more

than 250 on-campus students.

Dialing up dollars

AT&T invested close to $15 million in its wireless and wired networks in North Dakota in the first six months of 2013.

The investment is part of AT&T’s Project Velocity IP, a three-year plan the company announced last fall to expand and enhance its IP broadband networks.

Improvements include expanding and enhancing the company’s 4GT LTE network, as well as putting in new Wi-Fi hot spots.

The 4GT LTE improvements include new service to Minot and the building of new sites to better serve the communities of Stanton, Hazen, Garrison, Stanley and Langdon.

Bakery plans move

K’s Bakery, 2301 S. University Drive, Fargo, is fixing to move.

A space is being prepared just two blocks away at 2515 S. University Drive, said Karen Fabre Wills, the shop’s owner.

Wills said she’s moving because she needs more space.

“Business is good,” said Wills, who expects to move into the new space the first week of January.

New furniture mart

A new Ashley Furniture and mattress store is planned for 1601 44th St. S., in Fargo, according to building permit information on file with the city.

There is now an Ashley Furniture store at 1601 13th Ave. E. in West Fargo.

Details about the new store were not available.
