Minot posts plan for flood recovery dollarsMINOT, N.D. — Minot residents who restored their homes following historic Souris River flooding in 2011 might be eligible for money if the federal government approves the city's plan for spending its second allocation of Community Development Block Grant disaster recovery dollars.
Minot received a grant of $35 million last May, in addition to about $67 million received and allocated last year. The city is proposing to spend $5 million on home repair reimbursements, $13 million on property buyouts and $12 million on roadway repairs.
The program would provide grants of up to $10,000 to homeowners who repaired flood damage to their primary residencies within one year of the flood.
The city is taking public comments through Monday.
More than 4,000 homes, businesses and other structures were affected by flooding two years ago.
