Tamarac photo contest deadline is Sept. 13ROCHERT, Minn. – The deadline for the annual Tamarac refuge photo contest is Sept. 13.
All entries submitted must have been taken on the refuge within the past two years and no more than two entries per category per person may be entered. The five categories are wildlife, plant life, scenic, nature’s abstracts and recreation.
The contest, open to amateur photographers only, is for all ages, with youth divisions for ages 12 and younger and 13 to 17. First, second, third and honorable mention will be awarded in each category and youth division. All photos will be displayed during Tamarac’s annual fall festival on Oct. 5 and at the Washington Square Mall in Detroit Lakes during National Wildlife Refuge Week Oct. 14-20.
Visitors to the festival and the mall can vote for their favorite photo. A People’s Choice award will be given to the photo with the most votes. Winners in all categories will be announced Oct. 20.
Photos may be mailed to or dropped off at the refuge office or dropped off at the Detroit Lakes Chamber of Commerce. For more information and complete rules, visit www.tamaracfriends.org.
