ND mental health group receives two-year grantFARGO – Mental Health America of North Dakota recently picked up a two-year grant to help soon-to-be-released inmates at the Cass County Jail.
The Otto Bremer Foundation grant will allow the organization to work with jail staff to match inmates with a peer support specialist.
The specialists, who have a self-identified mental illness and are actively involved in their own recovery, will help inmates develop coping skills and find support services here for the best chance of being successful after they’re released.
The grant aims to reduce recidivism rates and increase access to community support for inmates with mental illness.
