5 new downtown stores to check out

FARGO – Since spring, at least five new stores have settled downtown on Broadway, Main Avenue or Eight Street South.

I never pass up a chance to browse new stores, and these shops did not disappoint. Each adds something unique to the downtown retail community.

1. Pinch & Pour

210 Broadway, Suite 102

What Anna says: The steel vats of specialty olive oil and balsamic vinegars are pretty to look at and tasty to try.

Bring home a bottle of extra-virgin olive oil for a special dinner party and prepare to soak up its quality goodness with some crusty bread. The store will sell spices eventually, too.

Hours: 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and by appointment

2. Fowlers Heritage Co.

210 Broadway, Suite A

What Anna says: This sweet little shop in the same space as Pinch & Pour is stocked with soft, quality work-and-play duds for men and women.

The store’s selection of candles by Capri Blue Candles (one of my favorites!) is the best in town. The fresh, citrusy Volcano scent has a hint of bright earthiness that fills any room with a memorable aroma.

Hours: 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and by appointment

3. Aendee

5 S. 8th St.

What Anna says: Ashley Dedin, owner of AENDEE, makes custom ties from used dress shirts. The young seamstress and store owner is a believer in being kind to Mother Earth and producing high-quality, unique ties and other upcycled accessories.
