2 dead in fiery semi crash in Barnes CountyVALLEY CITY, N.D. — Two men were pronounced dead at the scene of a fiery collision involving two semis around 9 a.m. Wednesday morning east of Litchville, according to a North Dakota Highway Patrol release.
The first vehicle was eastbound on Highway 46 about 20 miles south of Valley City when it failed to stop at the intersection of Highway 1, the release stated. A northbound truck on Highway 1 wasn’t able to stop in time and struck the eastbound semi, said Sgt. Tom Herzig.
Both trucks ended up in the ditch near the intersection and both drivers were killed.
The crash is still under investigation and Herzig said the Highway Patrol is still at the scene of the accident reconstructing the crash.
The drivers’ names have not been released.
The driver of the eastbound truck was not wearing a seat belt.
