Moorhead’s Stein wins USGA Senior qualifierFARGO – Craig Stein of Moorhead shot a 73 to win the USGA Senior Men’s Amateur qualifier at the Fargo Country Club on Monday and will advance to the USGA Senior Amateur Championship Sept. 21-26 in Cashiers, N.C.
Stein’s round was three shots better than Colin Bork of Fargo, who will be the first alternate. Mike Howell of Fargo, who carded a 78, will be the second alternate. Ten players competed for one spot.
The Senior Championship will be held at the Wade Hampton Golf Club in Cashiers. The tournament is open to qualifying for any player at least 55 years old with a handicap index of not more than 7.4.
