Letter: One-term limits for all of them

Did anyone else catch the headline on The Back Page of the Sunday, Aug. 4, Forum? It read: “Democratic governors nervous about implementing health plan” (and in smaller print) “But add they will be better positioned in next year’s elections.”

It sounds to me as if they are more interested in keeping their jobs than sticking their necks out for the good of their constituents and the country at large. H.R. 3962 is the Affordable Health Care Act that they are worried about. This 1,990-page bill (in PDF format) could not have possibly be read fully and understood by all voters of the House, yet it passed by a margin of 220-215. If just three people had voted the other way, it would have been shut down until a possible reintroduction in a new version. It boggles the mind. The future and economic balance of our country will be changed by the last three lawmakers who voted for it. Why? To keep their jobs for another term.

I believe it is time for single term limits for all legislators, including president of the United States, and since they will never vote for that, it is up to “We the people ...” to make sure it happens!
