Jury convicts Fargo man of attempted murder

FARGO – A Cass County jury took two hours on Monday to convict a Fargo man of attempted murder and other related charges.

Damon White Bird, 23, was accused of locking two men in his apartment here and attacking them with a sword and a table leg April 2.

He was convicted in Cass County District Court after a five-day trial on a Class A felony attempted murder charges, two counts of felonious restraint and one count of aggravated assault, all Class C felonies, plus one Class A misdemeanor count of tampering with physical evidence.

The jury also found him guilty of using a dangerous weapon in the attempted murder and the assault, said Cass County prosecutor Tristan Van de Streek.

That means White Bird is facing a mandatory prison term of four years, according to court records.

A sentencing hearing has not yet been set.
