UND to play two men’s hockey exhibition games in Canada

GRAND FORKS – The University of North Dakota will once again be playing north of the border.

The school officially announced a pair of exhibition games scheduled for suburban Vancouver on Jan. 3-4.

UND will play against the University of British Columbia on Jan. 3 and against Simon Fraser University on Jan. 4 in Burnaby, B.C. Princeton University will accompany UND on the trip. Game times have not yet been announced.

The event is being called the “Great Northwest Showcase.”

“We appreciate the invitation and are proud to be a part of this tournament,” UND coach Dave Hakstol said. “It is a great opportunity to spread the footprint of NCAA Division I hockey and, at the same time, allows many of our players from Western Canada to return home for two exhibition games.”
