Thursday review: Gummy vitamins' flavor is less than appetizing

FARGO – Whenever I think I might be getting sick, my friends and family ask me, “Are you taking a multivitamin?”

I keep a bottle of One A Day Women’s on my desk, but it’s on a rare occasion that I remember to take one.

The fact that all those good-for-me vitamins and minerals come packed in a big, chalky pill doesn’t help.

I’ve tried gummy and chewy vitamins before and liked them, so when I came across Slice of Life’s varieties of adult gummy vitamins, I thought, “Why not?”

I chose the sugar-free variety because, well, my diet contains too much sugar as it is.

However, I think that’s why I didn’t like them.

Without sugar, they taste too “vitamin-y.” The Sugar Free Multi+ vitamins are naturally sweetened with inulin fiber and lo han fruit instead.

But that’s my only complaint. They have just the right amount of chewiness, and they’re allergen, dairy, gluten and GMO free.

Natural-foods company Hero Nutritionals also offers Slice of Life Multi+ Vegetarian, Sugar Free Vitamin D3 and Diabetic Health Complete Multi+ with Cinnamon.
