Tuesday Tip: Smooth doll hair using fabric softener

How well-loved a doll is often shows in its hair. Several of my daughter’s Barbies and larger dolls had ratty, tangled messes for coifs.

Then I heard this suggestion for taming those tresses: Put 2 tablespoons liquid fabric softener in a small spray bottle and fill the rest of the way with water. Spray on the doll’s hair and comb out using a doll’s brush or wide-tooth comb.

It seemed to work best when I brushed out the ends first and then worked my way up the hair.

The dolls did lose a lot of hair to the brush’s bristles, but what remained was smoother and had fewer snarls.
