Letter: Fargo Street Fair a great festival

Four weeks ago, we found ourselves on the watershed of the mighty Mississippi (flowing to the Gulf of Mexico) at an art festival in St Paul. The following week, we found ourselves on the Yukon River in Alaska, flowing into the Bering Sea. The following week, we found ourselves in Fargo at the Street Fair (on the Red River, flowing into the Hudson Bay).

We’ve traveled more than 30,000 miles this past year. In our travels, we are not sure if we are tourists, artists, craftsman, artisans or just travelers. We travel far and fast, taking time to catch our breath between art festivals and shows. However, when we arrive in Fargo, we have some assurance of genuine hospitality.

We’d like to take a moment to thank all the folks who have contributed, assisted, or helped with the Fargo Street Fair. We found that in spite of the heat and rain, we were surrounded by people who knew how to run an art festival and create meaningful accommodations for us all. We were well cared for by the people of Fargo, and the public showed up in spite of the minor rain late Saturday afternoon.

The city of Fargo and the state of North Dakota has every reason to stand tall and be proud of this event of uncommon merit. Thanks for your efforts.
