Authorities identify 15-year-old boy who died in crash near Detroit LakesDETROIT LAKES, Minn. – Authorities have identified a 15-year-old boy that died this morning in a one-vehicle rollover south of Detroit Lakes.
Jayme Rion Honrud of Erhard was found dead at the scene of the accident that happened about 2:44 a.m. on 280th Street, also known as Vergas Trails Road, according to Becker County Sheriff Kelly Shannon.
Five individuals were in the vehicle at the time of the crash, all of them minors, Shannon said.
Shannon did not identify all of those in the accident, but said in a news release that the driver of the vehicle was 18-year-old Austen Kurt Lynnes of Pelican Rapids.
He said two people were taken to the hospital by ambulance and later released.
Shannon said two others were transported to the hospital via a private vehicle and were treated for minor scrapes and bruises before being released.
It does not appear that alcohol was involved in the crash, Shannon said.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Larson Funeral Home in Pelican Rapids.
Visitation for Honrud is from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday at Grace Lutheran Church in Erhard. There will be a prayer service at 6:30 p.m.
The funeral for Honrud will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, also at Grace Lutheran Church.
