Fargo Marathon commemorative book lists incorrect 5K resultsFARGO – If you ran the 5K race during the 2013 Fargo Marathon in May, don’t be surprised if you can’t find your name and results in the commemorative book mailed to participants.
Instead, the results of the 2012 Fargo Marathon 5K race were included because the timing company, MTEC Results, submitted the wrong file. The printed results are correct for the other races.
Participants started receiving the commemorative book, produced by Spotlight Media, last week and many immediately noticed the mistake.
The Fargo Marathon posted a statement from Andrew Jason, the director of Spotlight Media, on the event’s Facebook page Tuesday to answer questions.
“We apologize about the error and, although we do not like to point blame, we are severely disappointed in the fact that the wrong file was included in the magazine,” Jason said in the statement.
Spotlight Media and the Fargo Marathon partnered for the first time in 2013 to produce the 100-page book.
“We don’t want it to take away from the actual magazine itself which is a really nice piece,” said Mark Knutson, race director for the marathon, who said he hopes Spotlight will produce another book for the 2014 race.
Even with the error, many participants on the Fargo Marathon’s Facebook page were happy to have received the book. It was mailed for free to all race participants. Copies are available for $9.95 for those who did not run any of the races.
A corrected issue of the book including the 2013 5K race participants and times is available online at: http://issuu.com/fmspotlight/docs/fargo_monthly_rough_draft_august.
