Man accused in Minot bomb threat pleads guilty
MINOT — A North Dakota man accused of threatening to blow up a Social Security office in Minot has pleaded guilty.
Kevin Skiles pleaded guilty in federal court Monday to threatening to damage or destroy property by means of explosive.
A sentencing hearing is set for Oct. 21.
Authorities say the 54-year-old Skiles left a voicemail message on the phone of a Social Security representative after identifying himself, giving his social security number, and leaving his phone number.
Skiles allegedly threatened to blow up the building and told the employee, “I'm coming in tomorrow and you guys aren't going to like it.”
The charge carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.
