Oilfield fire may have been caused by lightningKEENE, N.D. -- A saltwater disposal site fire has been reported in McKenzie County near Keene in northwest North Dakota.
The McKenzie County Sheriff's Office confirmed that it received a call about an oilfield fire -- possibly caused by a lightning strike -- Monday morning and that it had personnel at the scene.
Keene Fire Chief John Rolfsrud said a call was received just before 10 a.m. Rolfsrud said there were no reports of injuries and that the site was controlled by MBI Energy Services.
The incident reportedly happened west of New Town and about 3 miles east of Keene.
