ND man charged with attempted human traffickingBISMARCK — A Bismarck man has been charged with attempted human trafficking after officials accused him of trying to arrange a sexual encounter with a minor.
Bond has been set at $25,000 for 34-year-old Shawn Bergstrand.
A complaint filed in the case accuses Bergstrand of attempting to obtain another person for sex while knowing that person was younger than 18 and would be subject to human trafficking.
District Judge Bruce Haskell has sealed some information in the case after finding it could compromise other ongoing investigations. A police report says Bergstrand initiated email correspondence with a woman believed to be sex trafficking her minor daughters for money.
