Weather Talk: Average high, low temp recently has been 83, 60

The average high and low temperature in recent days has been 83 degrees and 60 degrees. This will continue through the rest of the month. Those averages given are smoothed averages derived by the National Climatic Data Center, but the raw averages vary from day to day and will differ slightly from the smoothed averages from the NCDC.

Using data from when records began in 1881 to now, there are only four days with an average temperature above 83 degrees (although rounded the average would be presented as 83). Those days are July 11, 24, 25 and 26, with July 25 having the overall warmest average daily high temperature of any day of the year.

The day with the overall highest low temperature average is July 11, followed by July 16, 14 and 12.

Of note, although rounded up, all those days the average high would be 60 degrees. There are actually no days with a long-term average low above 60 degrees.
