Fargo police investigate theft of Treasure Island Coins shipmentFARGO – Police here are investigating the theft of some “treasure” from a rare coin and metal dealership after a report that a package being shipped from Treasure Island Coins via United Parcel Service disappeared en route to a customer.
The theft occurred sometime in the past month, Fargo police Lt. Joel Vettel said, and police have been working with both companies for several weeks.
He did not say what was stolen or how much the missing precious metals were worth, other than to say it was a felony-level theft.
Paul Smith, vice president of Treasure Island Coins, 12429 42nd St. S., also wouldn’t say what was stolen, other than that it involved large numbers in terms of worth.
Smith also would not say when the package was shipped and when it was stolen.
Smith said Treasure Island Coins is working with the police UPS.
