Missouri company seeks money to build Minot plantMINOT, N.D. — A Missouri pipe manufacturing company that wants to build a plant in Minot is seeking $800,000 in assistance from a city development fund.
United Poly Systems currently operates a plant in Springfield, Mo., to make polyethylene pipe.
The Minot Daily News reports (http://bit.ly/13LrA22 ) that the company has asked for a $400,000 loan from the MAGIC Fund and a grant of $400,000. The loan would be forgivable if the plant meets certain targets for hiring full-time employees.
The company sees a growing market in North Dakota and already has attracted an oilfield customer who uses the pipe for transporting natural gas. Other potential markets exist with the growth of city water and sewer lines and telecommunication systems in the region.
