Kennedy named men’s golf coach at North Dakota StateFARGO – Steve Kennedy, the longtime boys golf coach at Fargo South and Fargo Davies High Schools, has been named the head men’s golf coach at North Dakota State.
Kennedy’s teams won 12 state championships during his 18 years at South from 1993-2010, including seven straight before he started the boys golf program at Davies.
“Steve emerged from a very impressive list of candidates to be our choice,” said NDSU athletic director Gene Taylor. “Steve has had the opportunity to coach some extremely talented golfers over his career including some of our current players.”
Kennedy was a five-time North Dakota coach of the year and was named national coach of the year in 1998. He coached nine state medalists and 21 golfers who went on to Division I college programs, including PGA players Tom Hoge, David Schultz and Ben Freeman.
