Heavy rain forces Downtown Fargo Street Fair to close for eveningFARGO - Heavy rain forced Downtown Community Partnership officials to close the Downtown Street Fair early tonight.
The 38th annual event was scheduled to remain open until 10 p.m., but due a wave of rainstorms it was closed about 7.
Officials said it was the first time the fair had closed early due to weather “in many years,” according to a release from the Downtown Community Partnership.
Downtown businesses held people under canopies and provided shelter for attendees during the early evening downpour.
The fair will open for its final day at 10 a.m. Saturday.
