Hires and promotions - 07/20/13NDSU announces promotions and tenure
North Dakota State University has promoted 34 faculty members and 32 faculty members have received tenure, effective with the 2013-14 academic year. They will be honored during a campuswide celebration in the fall. They are:
- College of Agriculture, Food Systems and Natural Resources: Thomas M. DeSutter, Glenn P. Dorsam, Xinhua Jia, Herman “Hans” Kandel, Samuel G. Markell, Kevin McPhee, Juan Osorno, Saleem Shaik, Senay Simsek and Shaobin Zhong, all awarded tenure and promoted to associate professor; and Harlene Hatterman-Valenti, promoted to professor.
- College of Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences: Thomas Ambrosio and Gary Totten, promoted to professor; Tracy C. Barrett, awarded tenure and promoted to associate professor; and Sigurd H. Johnson, awarded tenure.
- College of Business: Jin Li and Limin Zhang, awarded tenure and promoted to associate professor; and Joseph G. Szmerekovsky, promoted to professor.
- College of Engineering and Architecture: Xuefeng “Michael” Chu, David Crutchfield, Sudarshan Srinivasan, Stephen A. Wischer, Xiangqing “Annie” Tangpong, all awarded tenure and promoted to associate professor; and Regin Schwaen and Jongchul Song, awarded tenure.
- College of Human Development and Education: Thomas Stone Carlson, promoted to professor; and Joe Deutsch, Sherri N. Stastny and Rachelle E. Vettern, all awarded tenure and promoted to associate professor.
- College of Pharmacy, Nursing and Allied Sciences: Cynthia A. Naughton, awarded tenure; and Chengwen Sun, awarded tenure and promoted to associate professor.
- College of Science and Math: Hyunsook Do, Friedrich Littmann, Guodong Liu, Clay Routledge, Wendy Troop-Gordon and Andriy Voronov, all awarded tenure and promoted to associate professor; and Craig A. Stockwell, promoted to professor.
Lakeland adds Vogel to adult services team
Lakeland Mental Health Center, Moorhead, has added Ashley Vogel to its adult services team.
Vogel received bachelor’s degrees in sociology and psychology from Northern State University, Aberdeen, S.D., and a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from North Dakota State University.
Her previous behavioral health experience includes internships at the NDSU Counseling Center and at Safe Harbor, Aberdeen.
Gate City Bank promotes three
Gate City Bank has promoted Diana Carlsrud to personal loan underwriting supervisor at the bank’s corporate office, Casey Thielges to personal banking supervisor at the Hornbacher’s at Osgood and Michael Willson to customer service and sales supervisor at the Southpointe branch, all in Fargo.
Carlsrud graduated from Minnesota State University Moorhead with a degree in finance. She has been with Gate City Bank since 2001.
Thielges is a native of Moorhead and earned a degree in finance and a minor in accounting from North Dakota State University. He has been employed by Gate City Bank for two years.
Willson is originally from Valley City, N.D., and graduated from NDSU with a degree in university studies. He has worked for Gate City Bank since 2011.
Bell hired as senior technical consultant
Implementation Specialists, Hawley, Minn., has hired Jill Bell as a senior technical consultant.
Bell graduated from Valley City (N.D.) State University with a bachelor’s degree in computer science. She has more than seven years of experience in technical support of Microsoft Dynamics GP, primarily in distribution and manufacturing. She also has more than seven years of GP technical support/data administrator experience with Agri-Cover, James-town, N.D.
Intelligent InSites hires senior medical adviser
Dr. Eric Novack has joined Intelligent InSites in Fargo as senior medical adviser.
Novack has more than 20 years of health care delivery experience as an emergency medical technician, mental health worker and orthopedic surgeon.
He will work with health care customers to share best practices on using the InSites real-time operational intelligence platform.
Fargo Housing hires Section 8 coordinator
The Fargo Housing and Redevelopment Authority has hired Ashley Reinke as the Section 8 coordinator.
She pre-viously worked for the Southeast North Dakota Community Action Agency as a self-sufficiency case manager and has many years of experience working with emergency services, client management and housing needs.
Credit Collections Bureau promotes two
The Credit Collections Bureau of North Dakota has promoted Michelle Ross, Fargo, to collection associate and Marissa Black, Fargo, to collection representative.
TMI Hospitality hires Lindgren, Swanson
TMI Hospitality, Fargo, has hired Carissa Lindgren as administrative assistant to the quality and performance improvement department and Stephanie Swanson as purchasing assistant.
Lindgren received a bachelor’s degree in social work from Minnesota State University Moorhead and is pursuing a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Mary, Fargo. She previously was program coordinator for Solutions Behavioral Healthcare Professionals, Moorhead.
Swanson earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from MSUM. She previously worked as a visual specialist for Vanity, Fargo.
Hoerauf promoted at Cornerstone Bank
Lori Hoerauf of Cornerstone Bank, Fargo, has been promoted to assistant vice president of operations/
She has been with Cornerstone Bank since 2010.
Ziemba promoted at Choice Financial
Tim Ziemba has been promoted to credit analyst at Choice Financial’s branch at 4501 23rd Ave. S., Fargo.
He joined Choice Fi-nancial in 2011 as a customer service representative and was promoted in 2012 to credit administration specialist.
Ziemba is a graduate of Valley City (N.D.) State University with a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in finance and management.
Matt Ackerland hired as VP of retail banking
Matt Ackerland has joined Western State Bank in West Fargo as vice president of retail banking.
Ackerland has more than 12 years of experience in the banking industry. He previously was district manager at Wells Fargo.
Originally from West Fargo, he pursued the business management program at the University of Mary, Fargo.
United Savings Credit Union hires Woodard
Nicholaus J. Woodard has been named president and chief executive officer of United Savings Credit Union, 2401 45th St. S., Fargo. He replaces
Gloria Schmunk, who retired after 31 years with the credit union.
Woodard has worked in the financial industry for 10 years, most recently as a branch manager/commercial lender at another financial institution.
Fargo Essentia Health hires two physicians
Dr. Karol Kremens, a critical care specialist, has joined Essentia Health Hospital, and Dr. Michael Blankinship, a dermatologist, is seeing patients at Essentia’s clinic on South University Drive, both in Fargo.
Kremens earned a medical degree from Wroclaw Medical University in Poland. He completed a residency in internal medicine at Norwalk (Conn.) Hospital. His pulmonary and critical care fellowships were at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, Iowa.
Blankinship has a medical degree and a doctorate degree in human genetics from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He also completed his residency in dermatology at the University of Michigan Health System.
Dr. Brittany Krog joins Dr. Saunders’ office
Dr. Brittany Krog has joined the office of Dr. Robert Saunders at 2834 S. University Drive, Fargo.
She is a native of Grand Forks and graduated from North Dakota State University with a degree in microbiology.
Krog received a doctor of dental surgery degree from the University of Nebraska Medical School.
Catholic Charities ND hires executive director
Dianne Nechiporenko has been named executive director of Catholic Charities North Dakota.
She re-ceived a bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy from the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks, and completed advanced training in leadership/management from Gallup University.
She previously held management positions at MeritCare and PRACS Institute.
Peters named financial rep at Country Financial
Dexter Peters of Fargo has been named a financial representative for Country Financial.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in management from North Dakota State University. He works in the Country office at 4166 31st Ave. S., Fargo,
Brandon Root promoted at Boys & Girls Club
Brandon Root has been promoted to administrative coordinator/gaming analyst at the Boys & Girls Club of the Red River Valley and Youth Commission, Fargo.
He is originally from Billings, Mont., and grew up in Fargo. He graduated from Concordia College with a degree in communications.
Fischer named internal chief medical officer
Dr. Eunah Fischer has been named internal chief medical officer at Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota, Fargo.
Fischer joined BCBSND in 2010 as a medical director in medical management. She was named interim chief medical officer in 2012.
Before joining BCBSND, Fischer was an internist at Sanford Clinic Southpointe, Fargo, and a clinical assistant professor of medicine at the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks.
Born in Seoul, South Korea, she grew up near San Francisco and earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and a medical doctorate from Dartmouth Medical School, Hanover, N.H. She completed her residency in internal medicine at Harvard Medical School, and a fellowship in geriatrics at UNC Chapel Hill.
Before joining Sanford, she was in private practice in Chapel Hill, N.C.
Four new employees at Appareo Systems
Appareo Systems, Fargo, has hired Jameson Bickert as an embedded software engineer, Jonathan Tolstedt as an intellectual property officer, Tessa Skare as a manufacturing assembler and Tanya Bitzan as a software developer.
Bickert is a graduate of North Dakota State University with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. His experience includes working with crypto radios and DO-178B projects.
Tolstedt is a graduate of South Dakota State University with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with a math minor and a master’s degree in computer science from University of Iowa. He is a registered U.S. patent agent with nine years of experience with patent matters.
Skare is a graduate of Ridgewater College with an associate degree as an electronic technician. She has more than five years of experience in electronics repair.
Bitzan, a native of Oakes, N.D., graduated from NDSU with a bachelor’s degree in computer science. She has been with Appareo while pursuing her degree.
