Letter: What about other dog breeds?

Out of curiosity: Why did The Forum only mention two of the nine dogs involved in last Sunday’s attack (the Rottweiler and pit bull)? What were the breeds of the remaining seven dogs?

Obviously, this was a newsworthy story. However, it sure seems that news media intentionally give certain breeds of dogs a bad rap with stories such as this. I have known/

owned various dogs in my lifetime, and not once have I encountered a pit bull (or Rott-weiler, for that matter) that was anything but friendly and loving toward humans.

I have, however, encountered several Labradors and German shepherds that were vicious, territorial and potentially dangerous. In fact, both my husband and I were attacked/bitten by black Labradors as children (different dogs).

It seems this article intentionally sensationalized on the already negative stigma of Rottweilers and pit bulls by failing to mention the other breeds that were involved in this attack. Check out www.mypitbullisfamily.com for information on how amazing these animals truly are.
