Hires and promotions - 07/13/13Harig, Scott promoted at Bell State Bank
Bell State Bank & Trust has promoted Chris Harig and Falon Scott to personal banking officers at the branch at 1333 8th St. S., Moorhead.
Originally from Fergus Falls, Minn., Harig earned a degree in architectural drafting and estimating and is currently completing a bachelor’s degree in business administration at Minnesota State University Moorhead. He joined Bell State Bank in 2010 and most recently was a customer service specialist at the Moorhead location.
Scott is a native of Pelican Rapids, Minn., and she earned a degree from North Dakota State University. She joined Bell State Bank in 2008 and most recently was a customer service specialist at the branch at 3100 13th Ave. S., Fargo.
Luther Hall announces several staff changes
Lutheran Social Services’ Luther Hall, Fargo, has promoted Angel Naslund to administrative director and Clara Erickson to clinical director. Karli Johnson has been hired as a clinical therapist and Christopher Cooley as a residential nurse.
Naslund was previously the clinical director. She has a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in community counseling from Minnesota State University Moorhead.
Erickson has a bachelor’s degree in psychology and family studies from St. Olaf College, Northfield, Minn., and a master’s degree in counseling psychology from the University of St. Thomas, St. Paul.
Johnson graduated from Concordia University, St. Paul, with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. She earned a master’s degree in education from North Dakota State University. She was previously a therapist at Prairie St. John’s, Fargo.
Cooley earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks, and he previously worked as a nurse at Prairie St. John’s, Fargo.
Casey joins Otter Tail Corp. human resources
Otter Tail Corp. has hired Sharon Casey as executive assistant to the vice president of human resources at the corporate headquarters in Fargo.
Casey has an extensive background in human resources, training, customer service and senior management support. She previously worked at StoneL, Lakes Country Service Cooperative, Fergus Falls, Minn., and Great Plains Software, Fargo.
Hanna joins NDSU animal sciences dept.
Lauren Hanna has joined North Dakota State University’s Animal Sciences Department as an assistant professor in the area of genetic improvement of livestock.
She will teach the animal genetics and the data analyses and design of experiments courses and assist with the Skills for Academic Success course for students majoring in animal science, equine science and veterinary technology. She will assist with other courses or develop courses for undergraduate or graduate level programs related to animal breeding and genetics, as well as statistics and experimental design related to animal science.
She is originally from Navasota, Texas, and has a bachelor’s degree in animal science and a master’s degree and Ph.D. in animal breeding from Texas A&M University.
RLE Group hires Thiede as project manager
Mark Thiede has joined the RLE Group in Fargo as a project manager.
Thiede has 24 years of design experience in education, civic and government and has worked in Colorado and Minnesota.
He is LEED accredited and a graduate of the University of Colorado.
Veselka hired in audit dept. at Widmer Roel
Cody Veselka has joined the audit department of Widmer Roel PC, a public accounting and business advisory firm with offices in Fargo, Bismarck and Hazen, N.D., as an audit associate.
He has a bachelor’s degree from North Dakota State University.

Town & Country Credit Union, Fargo, has hired Alex Demkiw as vice president of business development, Josh Fevig as a financial service officer and Steve Bayer as network administrator.
Demkiw has 14 years of financial industry expertise in consumer and business lending, credit underwriting and sales management. Originally from Detroit, Demkiw has a bachelor’s degree from Wayne State University.
A native of Ulen, Minn., Fevig has two years of experience in the financial services industry. He is a graduate of the University of Mary in Fargo, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in business management.
Bayer has 11 years of information technology experience specializing in wide area networking and network security. Originally from Wadena, Minn., Bayer has certifications as a HP Accredited Systems Engineer, Certified Sonicwall Security Administrator and Extron Control Specialist.
Applied Engineering hires 3 in Fargo office
Applied Engineering, Fargo, has hired Matthew Lennington as an application developer and Casey Ressler and Robert Piontek as design engineers.
Lennington graduated from North Dakota State University with a bachelor’s degree in computer science.
Ressler and Piontek both graduated from NDSU with bachelor’s degrees in mechanical engineering.
Rutter named to VP position at Noridian
Renay Rutter has joined Noridian Mutual Insurance Co., Fargo, as vice president of enterprise administration in the enterprise strategic services division.
She was previously president and chief operating officer of a legal outsourcing startup, CBF Group, now known as Integreon. She also worked for more than 10 years at Great Plains Software, Fargo, and most recently served as membership director at the Fargo Moorhead West Fargo Chamber of Commerce.
A native of Milwaukee, she graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration and marketing.
Coldwell Banker First Realty names president
Coldwell Banker First Realty, Fargo, has named Bryce Huotari president.
Huotari joined Coldwell Banker Commercial First Realty in 2001 as a sales professional and he became manager of the commercial division in 2012.
He is a graduate of the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks, with a bachelor’s degree in business and public administration, majoring in marketing and management.
Huotari is a licensed real estate agent in North Dakota and Minnesota and attained the certified commercial investment member designation in 2006.
Syverson Tile & Stone promotes 3, hires one
Syverson Tile & Stone, Fargo, has named Lisa Dirk corporate sales manager, Brenda Srejma Fargo division manager, Amanda Grant dealer sales representative for the Fargo division. Kristen Hillrud has been hired as the architectural/designer representative for the Fargo division.
Dirk has 30 years of experience in the tile and stone industry, including 20 years with Syverson.
Srejma has 15 years of experience in interior design and management and has been with Syverson for two years.
Grant worked for eight years in the Syverson showroom/city desk.
Hillrud has a degree in interior design and has worked in the retail and wholesale tile industry for four years. She was previously employed by Syverson in the showroom.

TMI Hospitality, Fargo, has hired Carissa Morman as an administrative assistant to the executive team and Donna Anderson as an online reputation specialist.
Morman graduated from Concordia College with a bachelor’s degree in health care management and an emphasis in long term care and hospital administration. She was previously employed as an executive assistant at Sanford Health Roger Maris Cancer Center, Fargo.

Dr. Kapphahn joins Essentia Heart Center
Dr. Samantha Kapphahn, an interventional cardiologist, has joined Essentia Health’s Heart and Vascular Center, Fargo.
Kapphahn graduated from West Central Area High School, Barrett, Minn., and Concordia College. She earned her medical degree from Western University of Health Sciences and the College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific, Pomona, Calif.
She served a residency in internal medicine at North Shore University Hospital, Manhasset, N.Y., and she did fellowships in cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology at North Shore University Hospital-Long Island Jewish Health System, Manhasset and New Hyde Park, N.Y.
Fraser Ltd. hires Trottot as IT specialist
Gene Trottot has accepted the position of information technology specialist with Fraser Ltd., Fargo.
Trottot graduated from Morrison University, Reno, Nev., with an associate degree in computer science.

Solid Comfort, Fargo, has hired Craig Nitz and Nick Rustad as value stream managers, and Steve Bartholomay has been promoted to value stream manager.
Rustad has 13 years of manufacturing experience with previous supervisory positions at Douglas Machine, Alexandria, Minn., and DMI at their locations in West Fargo and Tulsa, Okla.
Nitz has more than 10 years of lean manufacturing and supervisory experience. He previously worked for Northern Contours.
Bartholomay has been with Solid Comfort since 1981. He was previously a supervisor, plant manager and research and development supervisor.
Frith hired as patient service specialist
Bonny Frith has been hired as a patient service specialist for Plains Ear, Nose, Throat and Facial Plastic Surgery and Hearing Solutions, both in Fargo.

Andrew Nephew has been hired as an operations specialist at the Bank Forward administrative office in Fargo, and Adam Schaan was named as a personal lines sales agent at Insure Forward, Fargo.

Schaan has a bachelor’s degree in business administration with an emphasis in finance from North Dakota State University. He has three years of experience in sales and mortgage processing.

Vanity’s corporate office in Fargo has hired Jennifer Adahl as a fit and production assistant, Lauren Gessler as tops assistant buyer and Denise Abraham as director of sourcing and product development.
Adahl has previous work experience at the Emily Reynolds Historic Costume Collection and Christopher & Banks. She graduated from North Dakota State University with a bachelor’s degree in apparel, retail, merchandising and design.
Gessler previously worked at True Colors/Indigo and Ann Taylor. She graduated from the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks, with a bachelor’s degree in marketing.
Abraham has previous experience from The Gem Group, WM Carter Co. and Susan Bristol. She graduated from Drexel University with a bachelor’s degree in fashion design.
Kounovsky, Aaker join Realty Executives office
Brian Kounovsky and Tracy Aaker have joined the Realty Executives office in Fargo as Realtors.
Kounovsky is a Fargo native, and he graduated from Oak Grove High School in Fargo and the North Dakota State College of Science, Wahpeton. He has more than 25 years of real estate experience, including house renovations and rental property investments, sales and residential neighborhood development.
Aaker is a life-long resident of the Fargo-Moorhead area, and she graduated from Moorhead High School and Concordia College. She has taught in the West Fargo school system for more than 13 years.
Heritage Homes promotes 2, hires 1
Heritage Homes, Fargo, has promoted Brian Hanson to construction manager and Joshua Hass to superintendent and Rob Margheim has been hired as a new home specialist.
Hanson has been with Heritage Homes since 2004, most recently as senior superintendent.
Hass has been with Heritage Homes since 2011, most recently as job site coordinator.
Margheim is a native of West Fargo and he graduated from the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks, with a bachelor’s degree in marketing and management. He previously served with the Air Force National Guard Military Police and as a financial adviser.
