Dickinson State basketball standout Janae Moore dies in car accidentDICKINSON, N.D. - Janae Moore, a starter on the Dickinson State women’s basketball team, died Wednesday morning in a car accident near her hometown of Sidney, Mont.
The Montana Highway Patrol said the accident involved one vehicle — the vehicle Moore was driving. Speeding and alcohol were not factors in the crash, the patrol said.
Moore, 20, was a standout during her sophomore season with the Blue Hawks. She led DSU with 13.9 points per game and 7.1 rebounds per game.
“She played the game the same way she lived her life: with total commitment and dedication not only to her personal goals, but to everyone she was around,” DSU head women’s basketball coach Caleb Harrison said.
DSU athletic director Tim Daniel said everyone from the DSU athletic community is saddened by Moore’s death.
“Janae was an exemplary student athlete,” Daniel said. “She was liked by everyone she came into contact with, whether it was her classmates or teammates. It’s just a huge loss for everybody. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family and friends.”
Funeral arrangements are pending.
