Business digest - 07/06/13Applications open for state child care grants
The North Dakota Department of Commerce is accepting applications for a series of state child care grants. The deadline for application is Aug. 30.
The program provides $3 of grant funds for every $1 of matching funds. Funds can be used for the purchase and renovation of real estate, furniture, fixtures and equipment. Operating expenses are not eligible under this program.
Existing profit, nonprofit and public child care facilities that are expanding capacity and will be licensed upon completion are eligible for the grant program. New child care providers that will be licensed upon completion of the project are also eligible. Qualified grant proposals will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.

Cookies and Cocktails fundraiser set July 17
Sweet Haven Bakery and the The Beefsteak Club, both in Fargo, will host a Cookies and Cocktails fundraiser for the Dorothy Day Food Pantry at 5 p.m. July 17 at The Beefsteak Club, 612 1st Ave. N.
Tickets are $20 each or $30 for two and include admission, one cocktail and a selection of cookies. Tickets are available at Sweet Haven Bakery, 1201 1st Ave. N.

United Way reps to speak at FMHRA event
The Fargo-Moorhead Human Resource Association will host an educational luncheon about the United Way’s new community impact strategy from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Ramada Plaza and Suites, Fargo.
Speakers from the United Way will be Tom Hill, community impact director, and Sher Thomsen, president.
