Weekend watch: Second annual Cody Conner Memorial Festival
A year ago, more than 30 local music, comedy and variety acts came together to honor Cody Conner, a well-known local musician who had died a few months earlier. On Sunday, the second Cody Conner Memorial Festival promises to be even bigger. Organizers have booked a big-name headliner: Nicholas David, the Twin Cities-based singer who was a finalist on NBC’s singing reality show “The Voice.” David and The Feelin’ Band perform at the Fargo Theatre, 314 Broadway, Fargo, on Sunday night. Doors open at 7, show starts at 8 with a performance by the Elevate Rock School Band. Reserved tickets cost $25 and are available at www.tickets300.com, 300 Broadway or by calling (866) 300-8300. Additional fees may apply.
The celebration continues with a concert pub crawl, featuring more than 40 acts performing at the HoDo, Pickled Parrot, Legacy Ballroom, Empire Tavern, VFW, Dempseys, The Aquarium and Sidestreet Grille & Pub. Music starts at 7 p.m. at each location and is scheduled until midnight. A $5 donation is suggested admission for each concert, or free with a Nicholas David ticket. All proceeds go to Cody’s Legacy Foundation, a nonprofit that helps connect area children to music and art.
