Woman escapes injury after car enters river near WahpetonWAHPETON, N.D. – A Wahpeton woman escaped injury Monday after her vehicle went into the Wild Rice River about three miles west of Wahpeton.
The incident was reported about 6 p.m. Monday.
A report released by the Richland County Sheriff’s Office said Grace Birchem-Mangalaw, 36, was able to get out of her vehicle and get to safety before the vehicle went under water and deputies arrived.
The Richland County Water rescue team, the Dwight Fire Department, and the North Dakota Game and Fish Department assisted at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation, according to the sheriff’s office.
