Osage man seriously injured in crashDETROIT LAKES, Minn. – An Osage man was seriously injured Sunday when his motorcycle crashed head-on with a pickup truck on Highway 34 west of Detroit Lakes, the State Patrol reported.
Robert D. Vigesaa , 48, was injured after being thrown from the motorcycle and taken by air ambulance to a Fargo hospital, the patrol reported.
The accident was reported about 1:44 p.m.
According to the patrol:
The 2001 Ford pickup, driven by Donald W. LaPort , 58, of Twin Valley, was eastbound on Highway 34 and slowed to turn north onto East Height of Land Drive.
That turn happened as Vigesaa was heading westbound on Highway 34. Vigesaa’s 2000 Harley-Davidson collided with the center of the pickup and Vigesaa was thrown from the cycle and landed in the ditch. He was then flown by air ambulance to a Fargo hospital.
One passenger in the pickup, John A. LaPort , 73, hometown unknown, suffered a non-life-threatening injury, the patrol reported.
Donald LaPort and three other passengers – Manette K. LaPort, 62, Lynnel K. LaPort, 61, and Monrad H. LaPort , 70, hometowns unknown – did not appear to be injured, the patrol reported.
Vigesaa was listed as a patient at Essentia Health in south Fargo, a hospital employee said.
However, after consulting with a supervisor, a nurse in the intensive care unit said she would not give a condition report for Vigesaa or confirm he was under Essentia care.
The Becker County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the crash scene.
