Letter: Be more careful about grammarI could not believe the grammar in Emily Welker’s otherwise well done article regarding the Moorhead infant death. Others have addressed the grammar of today (Jane Ahlin and another woman contributor) in recent months. Welker may be young, but where is spellcheck or another proofreader? The section of the sentence read “while watching HE and his wife’s six children.” That ranks up there with “Him and Tom have went to the store with she and Maria.”
I have enjoyed The Forum in the six years we have lived in Moorhead. I am a proofreader by training “at my mother’s knee” as well as in high school Latin and other good English classes. As a teacher and librarian, it is still foremost in my reading and listening mind. A dying art, obviously, I know!
