Thursday review: 'Big girl' tights make skirts fun

FARGO – Before I tried Leg Luxury Tights, I don’t think I wore tights since my second-grade dance recital.

I rarely wear skirts and dresses, so I have no need for tights. But I’m trying to change that, and patterned tights help.

Leg Luxury Tights, created by a mother-daughter team in California, offers 28 styles, but only two come in plus sizes.

Of the two “BBW” (big beautiful woman) styles, I chose Leisa’s Diamonds, which look like fishnets but with a little more class and coverage. Paired with the right tops, I could wear them with a skirt and heels for both day and play.

My tights arrived in a mesh bag tied with a ribbon, which was a nice touch, but my favorite part of the packaging was the yellow Post-It with the note, “Fits 190-290 (really!).”

I was careful not to snag them, but the material is soft and comfortable.

The only improvement I’d suggest for the 80 percent nylon, 20 percent Spandex tights would be a Spanx-style control panel to help hold in tummy jiggle.
