Man accused in felonies of ramming restaurantFARGO – A Fargo man is facing a felony reckless endangerment charge, accused of repeatedly ramming his car into a restaurant full of customers, as well as a person who tried to stop him.
Ahmed Sheikhabu, 40, of Fargo, was charged Monday in Cass County District Court with one count of Class C felony reckless endangerment, one count of Class B felony criminal mischief and a B misdemeanor count of driving under the influence.
Court documents filed in the case say witnesses saw Sheikhabu, who police say was drunk, drive his car into Habib Cuisine at 2225 13th Ave. S. multiple times. They told police he got out of the car, started yelling, got back in and rammed the business two or three more times.
An employee at a nearby business reached in to the car to try to stop Sheikhabu, upon which Sheikhabu aimed his car at the other man and drove toward him yelling “I’ll kill you,” police allege in court records.
Sheikhabu was arrested and taken to the hospital, then to Cass County Jail. Damage to the restaurant is estimated at $11,000. His bail was set at $10,000.
Sheikhabu’s next court appearance is set for July 24.
