NEW TOWN, N.D. – The name Virgil Hill can be found boxing at 4 Bears Casino in New Town, N.D. again, only this time it’s not the former world champion who was recently inducted into the Boxing Hall of Fame. His son, Virgil Hill Jr., will make his professional debut on Aug. 30.

Hill Jr. spent four years in minor league baseball after being drafted in the sixth round by the St. Louis Cardinals. A career .230 hitter, he was released prior to this season.

The 23-year-old is being trained by his father and will fight at between 168 and 175 pounds. Virgil Hill last fought at 4 Bears in 2002 when he knocked out Carlos Bates in the first round in a non-title fight.
